URGENT MESSAGE TO ALL HAYWOOD COUNTY REPUBLICANS

“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” is a famous line from John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address in 1961. The line was a call to action for American citizens to become engaged and involved in the governance of our Nation.

Today, we are at a point in American history when that quote is more imperative to the survival of our Constitutional Republic than at any other time. “Ask what you can do for your country” is a question that every American Republican citizen should ask themselves as we approach the most critical Presidential race in American history.

If you are ready to be a true patriot, you can play a vital role in our November elections. That role involves volunteering to help at polling sites as a poll worker, observer, or greeter.

The Haywood County Republican Party desperately needs volunteers in all three categories to cover the 29 polling sites within the county. Having Republican volunteers at every polling site is critical to the assurance of election integrity.

Poll Workers are critical to an election's success. Having an adequate number of poll workers to staff all polling places on and before Election Day can ensure voters receive the assistance they need and help provide a positive and smooth voting experience for all. By signing up to be a poll worker, you can Help America Vote.

Poll workers are the face of the election office and the Republican Party during voting. They assist in setting up and preparing the polling location, welcoming voters, verifying voter registrations, and issuing ballots. They also help ensure voters understand the voting process by demonstrating how to use voting equipment and explaining voting procedures.

The Haywood County Board of Elections selects Poll workers. Those interested in being a poll worker must apply for the position at the Haywood County Board of Elections. The Board of Elections will provide the comprehensive training you need to understand the laws that govern elections in North Carolina and the administrative procedures of the election process.

Rest assured; you will receive the necessary training to be prepared for this important role. Further, as a Poll worker, you will be paid for your time by the Haywood County Board of Elections.

Poll Observers, sometimes referred to as "election observers," are individuals who observe the various steps in the election process. They are registered members of the Republican Party and represent the party to ensure that the election process is executed per election laws and regulations.

The role of a poll watcher is to observe and monitor the election without violating voter privacy or disrupting the process. Poll observers report any irregularities or violations of election laws to the polling site judge for resolution. If the judge does not resolve the issue, then the issue is immediately reported to a designated point of contact.

Poll observers are selected by the Chair of the Haywood County Republican Party and are provided the necessary training to observe professionally.

Poll Greeters are stationed outside of the polling site. They are there to project a positive, enthusiastic attitude on behalf of the Republican Party by greeting voters with a smile and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Poll greeters distribute materials: They hand out palm cards, sample ballots, or other informational handouts about Republican candidates. They thank arriving voters, express gratitude for their participation, and encourage them to vote for Republican candidates.

Poll greeters answer questions and address voters' last-minute inquiries. They thank departing voters and express appreciation to those who have cast their ballots. They also encourage voters to text three friends to vote on the spot.

Poll greeters are selected by the Chair of the Haywood County Republican Party and provided with the necessary training to greet voters professionally.

We are asking all Haywood County registered Republican voters to seriously consider serving our Nation by stepping up and volunteering. If you decide to volunteer, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Rick Stello, the Chair of the Haywood County Republican Party at 828-550-3301.
