Yesterday, Wednesday, May 28th, Haywood County Chairman Michael Loomis shut down his Facebook page following some of his recent posts, which included derogatory descriptions of his interactions with visitors to the Haywood County Republican Party (HCGOP) headquarters while he was there representing the HCGOP.

In my opinion, it seems there were more derogatory posts to find, which may have been even worse than the ones I shared, and he wanted to prevent the possibility that I would become aware of them and share them.

Interestingly, I received two comments indicating that they didn’t think those posts were a big deal. What I suggested to them, I'm now sharing with you: While you're thinking about those posts, which you don’t believe are that big of a deal, maybe you should think about what he may have posted about you in the past. Unfortunately, now that he has shut down his Facebook page, we will never know.

However, before he shut down his Facebook page, I was able to read a post Chairman Loomis wrote after being elected the Chair of the HCGOP and having attended his church’s services the following Sunday.

In that post, Michael wrote that at the end of the services, he addressed the congregation and announced that he had just been elected as the first openly gay Chair of the Haywood County Republican Party. He further announced that his leadership style would be a Theological approach. He stated that half of the congregation laughed at him after making that statement. Who could blame them, after all, just what does that mean?

HCGOP is a political party, not a religious entity. Does he mean he will deal with HCGOP business from a spiritual, mystical, or biblical perspective? Sounds like a solid strategy to me.

He further advised the congregation that he intended to keep all HCGOP business meetings to a maximum of twenty minutes. Let’s see, by the time you have the invocation, the pledge of allegiance, and the roll call to determine if a quorum is present, you have eaten up about eight or ten minutes, leaving only ten to twelve minutes to conduct official HCGOP business.

I'm not sure how that will create a successful HCGOP, but it will undoubtedly go a long way toward bringing unity to the HCGOP. It will be challenging to be divided when you’re not going to be there long enough to get into any disagreements with anyone on any issue.

Well, good luck with those ideas on how a Chair should manage a county political party.

EDITED UPDATE:

THIS MORNING, FRIDAY, MAY 30TH, MICHAEL LOOMIS' FACEBOOK PAGE IS BACK UP AND RUNNING - HOWEVER, INTERESTINGLY, MICHAEL HAD ERASED ALL OF HIS POSTS GOING BACK TWO YEARS.
