Jennifer Best Not Running for Reelection: Tiffany Collins Election Critical

Jennifer Best has served as a Republican commissioner in Haywood County for six years. As only the fourth woman to serve on the Board of Commissioners, she has been a vital voice for women’s concerns in the county. Now that she has decided not to run for reelection in 2026, the Board risks returning to an all-male composition. This shift threatens to leave Haywood County's women's unique perspectives and needs unrepresented.

Women in Haywood County want and need a commissioner who understands their roles as mothers, wives, and daughters, and who can advocate for their safety and well-being. Tiffany Collins recognizes this need and is ready to step up as a strong candidate who will always be there to uniquely represent the women of Haywood County, who are underrepresented while being the majority of the county’s residents.

Women bring distinct experiences and priorities to local government. Their perspectives often focus on community safety, education, healthcare, and family support, issues that affect daily life in tangible ways. When women hold leadership roles, policies tend to reflect these concerns more clearly.

Jennifer Best’s tenure demonstrated the importance of having a woman on the Board who can articulate these needs. Without a woman commissioner, the Board risks overlooking or misunderstanding the challenges faced by many families in Haywood County.

Tiffany Collins is not just another candidate. She is deeply aware of the specific issues that matter to women in the county:

  • Protecting the safety of children and neighborhoods

  • Supporting family-oriented community programs

  • Advocating for resources that help mothers and caregivers

  • Listening to the voices of women who often feel unheard in local politics

Her commitment to these issues, held by the majority of women in Haywood County, makes her a crucial candidate for the upcoming election.

In the 2026 election, three seats on the Board of Commissioners will be up for grabs. While there are multiple candidates, only two, Tiffany Collins and Terry Ramey, are seen as essential to creating a Board that truly listens to and acts on the needs of all Haywood County residents.

Republican voters can vote for up to three candidates, but voting for all three will dilute support for Tiffany and Terry. To increase their chances of finishing as the top two vote-getters and moving on to the general election, voters must consider voting only for Tiffany Collins and Terry Ramey in the primary.

This focused voting strategy will help ensure that the Board includes commissioners who prioritize the community’s best interests, especially those of women and families.

Having a woman like Tiffany Collins on the Board means more than just representation. It means:

  • Policies that reflect the real-life concerns of families

  • A stronger voice for women in local government decisions

  • Increased attention to safety and community well-being

  • A Board that values diverse perspectives and inclusive leadership

The future of Haywood County depends on leaders who understand and represent all residents. Tiffany Collins offers that understanding and commitment.

Voting is the most direct way to influence local government. To support Tiffany Collins:

  • Mark your calendar for the March primary election

  • Vote only for Tiffany Collins and Terry Ramey to maximize their chances

  • Encourage friends and family to do the same

  • Stay informed about the candidates and their platforms

By turning out in force, the women and men of Haywood County can ensure their voices are heard and their concerns addressed.
