Adam R. Smith Announces Candidacy for NC U.S. House District 11

On Wednesday, December 3rd, Adam R. Smith formally filed as a Republican candidate for NC Congressional District 11, challenging incumbent U.S. Representative Chuck Edwards.
A decorated Green Beret vet with nearly 17 years of service, Adam Smith brings a record of
decisive action under pressure - from the mountains of Afghanistan to the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Adam wasn’t just proud to see how the community came together after Hurricane Helene; he was honored and humbled to be part of the rescue and recovery effort through one of the largest grassroots efforts in the region. Because of the efforts of so many volunteers, Adam’s team was able to deliver six million pounds of supplies throughout Western North Carolina.
“Washington doesn’t need more politicians - it needs proven leaders who know how to get
things done,” said Smith. “My mission is simple: restore accountability, fight for mountain
families, protect our liberties, and demand real results.”
Adam’s campaign is grounded in the core values of Western North Carolina: freedom,
accountability, and service. As a constitutional conservative, he is committed to protecting the
Second Amendment, defending religious liberty, and safeguarding personal freedoms from
federal overreach. With working families squeezed by rising costs, Adam Smith will fight to cut taxes, reduce red tape, and bring high-quality jobs back to rural communities.
“Chuck Edwards has failed the people of Western North Carolina. His reputation for not showing up was glaringly obvious during the rescue and recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. In the Special Operations community, we didn’t promote mediocrity. I’m not sure why "We The People" continue to re-elect mediocre, self-interested career politicians."
It’s evident that Chuck Edwards only wants a title to be a "somebody" rather than understanding the position is a responsibility to "DO" something for the People.”
The proud father of Tove, his 4-year-old daughter, Adam understands the concerns about the future. Seeing industry leave the region, small businesses suffering (especially after Helene), the rise of drug use, and the preservation of Appalachian culture are all issues that need attention.
As a combat veteran, Adam understands the needs of the more than 47,000 veterans in NC-11
and is dedicated to improving healthcare access, expanding opportunities, and demanding real accountability from the VA. He is also rejecting the culture of career politics, running a
grassroots campaign focused on delivering results rather than protecting a political class.
Above all, Adam brings a lifetime of selfless service and action. From his military service to
leading major disaster-relief operations, and he is ready to apply that mission-driven leadership to fight for mountain families in Congress.
“For too long, Western North Carolina has been treated like an afterthought,” Adam continued. “I’m running to change that - to put mountain families first and ensure our region has a voice that fights, delivers, and never backs down.”
