Haywood County Republican Primary Results
Elected officials carry a vital responsibility: to protect the safety and well-being of their constituents while governing according to the people's will. This duty spans every office, from the Board of Commissioners and County Sheriff to the Tax Collector, Register of Deeds, State Representatives, and U.S. Representatives and Senators. Yesterday, registered Republican voters in Haywood County made their voices heard in the 2026 Republican primaries, selecting the candidates who will represent you and the party in the upcoming midterm elections this fall.
The Haywood County voters have spoken, and their choices must be respected. For those candidates who did not win, feelings of disappointment are natural. Yet, this is the moment to channel that energy into supporting the party’s nominees. Every candidate who participated in the primaries gained valuable experience and insights that can strengthen our chosen candidates' campaign efforts.
The candidates who won their primaries are as follows:
U.S. Senate: Michael Whatley
U.S. House: Chuck Edwards
Court of Appeals - Seat 1: Michael Byrne
Court of Appeals - Seat 3: Christine Walczyk
N.C. House: Jimmy Rogers
Board of Commissioners: Tommy Long, David Burnette, and Jeff Stines
County Sheriff: Mark Mease
Registrar of Deeds: Stacy Moore
County Tax Collector: Greg West
For those candidates and their supporters who worked so tirelessly over recent months, it is important to accept that the results reflect the will of the voters. For this election cycle, it was not God's will for you to win. Rather, it is His will that you and your supporters carry on the fight for our constitutional republic by other means, such as joining the Haywood County Republican Party family through active involvement in preparation for the upcoming midterm elections.
The socialist Democratic Party has demonstrated strong financial backing and organizational strength, aiming to reshape our county, state, and federal policies and leadership. Their goal is to implement socialist governance that a majority of county residents oppose. The stakes are high, and the path to victory will require dedication and unity.
Winning the midterms will require more than just enthusiasm; it demands action. Here are practical ways Haywood County Republican residents can contribute:
Attend Campaign Events: Show support and help spread the word.
Volunteer: Volunteers remain one of the most effective ways to connect with voters.
Donate: Even small contributions add up and help fund essential county Republican Party operating expenses and campaign activities.
Promote Voter Registration: Encourage family, friends, and neighbors to register and participate in the election process.
Social Networks: Share party and campaign updates and positive messages with your social media contacts.
The months leading to the November midterms will be demanding. Campaigns will face intense scrutiny, opposition attacks, and the challenge of mobilizing voters. Staying focused on the shared goal of protecting Haywood County’s values is crucial.
Candidates and supporters must:
Stay Informed: Keep up with the issues and opposition tactics.
Maintain Positivity: Campaigns that inspire hope and confidence attract more support.
Voter Turnout: Remind friends and family about election dates and polling locations.
Strategies: Be ready to adjust plans based on feedback and changing circumstances.
Success depends on persistence, teamwork, and a clear vision.
