Why Commissioner Terry Ramey Has Earned Your Vote
When Hurricane Helene struck Haywood County, it left devastation in its wake. Homes were destroyed, families displaced, and freezing temperatures threatened lives. In the face of this crisis, one figure stood out for his relentless commitment to the community: Terry Ramey. Unlike some officials who showed indifference, Terry Ramey fought tirelessly to protect and support the residents of Haywood County. His actions during this emergency reveal a leader who puts people first, even when facing criticism.

After Hurricane Helene, many residents found themselves homeless and vulnerable to harsh winter weather. The response from some county officials was slow or absent, leaving many to fend for themselves. Terry Ramey was the only Commissioner who consistently raised the alarm and pushed for immediate aid. He challenged his peers' complacency and demanded that resources be directed to the hardest-hit areas.
This was not an easy path. Terry faced public criticism from fellow Commissioners and even from our State Representative. Yet, he never wavered. Terry's focus remained on the safety and well-being of the people he serves. This kind of leadership requires courage and conviction, especially when standing against the tide of indifference.
Terry Ramey’s efforts went beyond words. He coordinated with local churches, community groups, and emergency services to set up shelters and distribute supplies. His Christian values inspired him to act with compassion and urgency. Many survivors credit him and his team for providing warmth, food, and hope during the darkest days after the storm.

For example, when a local shelter faced closure due to a lack of funding, Terry intervened to secure emergency funds. He also organized volunteer drives to collect blankets and warm clothing. These practical steps made a real difference for families struggling to survive freezing nights without a home.
As Terry Ramey seeks reelection, the community’s response speaks volumes. Subscribers to local blogs and residents alike praise his dedication and integrity. They see him as a true public servant who puts people before politics. In times of crisis, such leadership is rare and invaluable.

The lessons from Hurricane Helene remind us that government officials must be accountable and responsive. Terry Ramey’s example shows how one person’s determination can change outcomes for many. His willingness to face criticism and stand up for his community sets a standard for all elected leaders.
When deciding who to support in the upcoming election, voters should reflect on the qualities that matter most in a leader. Terry Ramey demonstrated:
Commitment to the community’s safety and welfare
Courage to challenge indifference and bureaucracy
Compassion rooted in strong values
Action that translated into real help for those in need
These are not just words but proven actions that saved lives during a critical time.

The story of Terry Ramey and Hurricane Helene is a reminder that leadership is about service, especially when it is hardest. Haywood County deserves officials who will stand up for its residents, no matter the pressure or criticism. Supporting leaders like Terry Ramey means investing in a safer, more caring community prepared to face future challenges.
Let this be a call to action for all residents: stay informed, hold leaders accountable, and support those who put the people first. Terry Ramey’s example shows that with strong values and determination, it is possible to make a real difference.

He gets my vote! standing on the sidelines in a tailored suite is nothing but showboating and Lord knows we have plenty of lip service these days from politicians. Stay the course sir there aren't many left with dirty hands and clean money.
We went by the fairgrounds to get supplies to distribute to people having trouble getting there and Commissioner Ramey literally jumped on a forklift and loaded pallets of MREs on our truck so we could get them to the community. I didn't see any other commissioners out there assisting him........He was amazing and will ALWAYS have our votes!!!!!!
