Not only is the newly elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, a strong Christian conservative but Speaker Johnson is also a strong supporter of convening a Convention of States under Article V to add Amendments to the Constitution to impose term limits, restricted spending with a balanced budget, and restricted jurisdictional over-reach.
Speaker Johnson served as a State Representative in Louisiana prior to becoming a federal Representative. While serving as a State Representative, Speaker Johnson was instrumental in Louisiana passing the Convention of States Resolution. He successfully convinced the Louisiana House of Representatives that the federal government was no longer functioning as intend by our Founding Fathers intended.
Speaker Johnson is a firm believer that the federal government has become far larger than our Founding Fathers intended, was no longer representing their constituents, and could no longer be depended upon to protect the Constitution and the citizens of our Nation.
He understood that the only solution to reining in this out-of-control government and return power back to the states and the people therein was through the convening of a Convention of States under Article V.
As a result of Speaker Johnson championing for the passage of a Resolution to convene a Convention of States, Louisiana passed the Resolution 62 to 36.
Hopefully with a Speaker who is all in on the convening a Convention of States, more states which have yet to pass a Resolution will seriously consider doing so.
