Haywood Republican Candidates' "Meet & Greet"

On December 31st, 2025, I posted an announcement of an upcoming "Meet & Greet" meeting at which 14 Republican candidates for various county and state elected offices had agreed to attend and participate. That post advised that the "Meet & Greet" session, an essential event for voters to connect with those seeking elected office, was scheduled for January 31st, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Waynesville Recreation Center. This gathering offers residents a valuable opportunity to learn about candidates’ platforms and engage directly with them.

Unfortunately, several Haywood County resident subscribers to my Blog have reached out to me advising that they had received a call from a female who identified herself as a Haywood County Republican Party officer, stating that the event had been cancelled because several candidates had withdrawn their commitment to participate in the meeting. However, the information the individual provided was knowingly false, and the event remains scheduled as planned, and all candidates who committed to attending remain committed to participating.

This act of disloyalty, on the part of this individual, to our Republican Party candidates was intended to disrupt and discredit those who have worked hard to organize this "Meet & Greet" session because it was organized by individuals this officer had personal issues with. Regardless of her reasons, she attempted to deny our Republican candidates the opportunity to present their platform to attendees.

The individual who communicated this false information should be publicly identified and held accountable for this act of interference, which is harmful for several reasons:

  • It discourages voter attendance and engagement

  • It undermines the efforts of organizers who worked hard to coordinate the event

  • It damages trust within the local Republican Party and the broader community

Attendees can expect to:

  • Hear directly from candidates running for various elected offices

  • Ask questions and gain insight into candidates’ priorities and plans

  • Build a stronger connection between the community and those who seek to represent it

To make the most of the "Meet & Greet," consider the following tips:

  • Review candidate information ahead of time to prepare thoughtful questions

  • Bring a notebook or device to take notes on candidates’ responses

  • Arrive early to have ample time to speak with multiple candidates

  • Respect differing opinions and engage in civil conversation

Being prepared helps voters gain clarity and confidence in their choices.

By attending, you:

  • Support candidates who are committed to serving Haywood County

  • Help maintain a healthy political environment free from falsehoods

  • Strengthen your own understanding of local issues and leadership

Remember, every voice counts in shaping the future of Haywood County.

I am the treasurer of the Haywood County Republican Party as well as the NC Congressional District 11 Republican Party. I will attest to the fact that I AM NOT the female officer involved in this incident. I stand firm with the policies set forth by the State Plan of Organization that require me to remain neutral during the Primaries. All candidates have been offered the use of the GOP headquarters to host events and have been informed that the GOP is simply providing a space. All planning, advertising and conducting the event are their responsibility. This policy regarding our position during the Primaries is posted on the door of HQ, on the NC District 11 Facebook and web pages…

As the author of this article I can confirm Kim's statement that she is NOT the individual in question. Kim is a dedicated conservative Republican warrior who has indeed been working hard, in fact harder than any other officer or member of the Executive Committee, to bring the Haywood County Party back together. She is doing so in the face of the negativity and roadblocks being caused by the individual I write about in my post.

The Haywood County Republican Party owes you a heart felt "thank you" for all that you are doing!

What in the world is wrong with these people who think they have to lie to try to get the advantage? Kind of like the political sign I saw in Hazelwood telling voters NOT to vote for a certain candidate, which is fine, but the message on the sign looked like it was written by a third grader... very childish. A lot like what we see in Washington right now!

Wish I could be there, but I have another family obligation in Tennessee where I have to be. Will this Meet & greet be recorded or videoed so it can be seen by those of us who can't make it?

I am in total agreement with you. These actions are inappropriate and childish. The level of some peoples' ignorance never seizes to amaze me.

Unfortunately, as a small group of patriotic county citizens dedicated to keeping the residents of Haywood County politically informed, we do not have the resources to record or televise the "Meet and Greet."

Thank you for seeking the truth and making the evil doings public. Creating confusion as mistrust is their way. We must continue to strengthen our convictions with the truth and may the unjust and their deceptive ways be revealed.
