"Constitution Alive" Zoom Training With Host Le Cossette

Understanding the Constitution is essential for every citizen who values freedom and democracy. Founding Father John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and an author of the Federalist Papers, urged citizens to not only read but also study the Constitution carefully. He believed that knowing our rights helps us recognize when they are violated and prepares us to defend them.

Similarly, Samuel Huntington, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, warned that ignorance about our duties and rights leads to loss of freedom and ruin. Today, many Americans lack an understanding of the Constitution, which puts our liberties at risk. This is why this educational opportunity is being made available to you: to help you regain that vital knowledge.

The Constitution is more than a historical document; it is the foundation of American law and government. It defines the powers of the government, protects individual rights, and sets the framework for how laws are made and enforced.

Without this knowledge, people become vulnerable to misinformation and manipulation. This leads to apathy or acceptance of policies that undermine liberty.

The "Constitution Alive" series is a free Zoom course designed to bring the Constitution to life. Presented by Patriots Academy, this course offers a clear and engaging way to study the Constitution with its original intent in mind. The sessions cover:

  • The historical context from the Declaration of Independence, to the penning of the Constitution, to the ratification and adoption of our Constitution

  • The reasons behind each Article, and Amendments one through ten (The Bill of Rights)

  • The Founders’ individual views and debates on key issues

  • The meaning of specific words and phrases as understood at the time of writing

This approach helps you see the Constitution as a living document shaped by real people with real concerns, rather than a set of abstract rules.

The course is easy to follow and suitable for all levels of prior knowledge. As your Constitutional Coach, I will guide you through each session, encouraging questions and discussion.

Today, the Constitution is often misunderstood or ignored. By joining this course, you take an active step toward reclaiming your role in democracy. You will be better prepared to:

  • Spot misinformation about constitutional rights

  • Support policies that align with constitutional principles

  • Encourage others to learn and respect the Constitution
