Haywood County Commissioners: It's All Trump's Fault
Those who do not have the pleasure of receiving and reading the left-leaning local newspaper, The Mountaineer, missed last Sunday’s front page article by Becky Johnson regarding “Who’s to blame for county property tax hike?”
Ms. Johnson interviewed four of our “RINO Republican” county Board of Commissioners, Kevin Ensley, Roger Brandon, Tommy Long, and Jennifer Best, to explain why our County property taxes are about to be dramatically increased. Take notice that Ms. Johnson did not interview our one true "Republican" Commissioner, Terry Ramey, regarding this matter. Undoubtedly, because Ramey would have advised her of the real reason for the upcoming increase, which would not have fit the liberal narrative or served as cover for the Commissioner’s decision to increase our property taxes.
According to the four so-called “Republican” Commissioners, the full blame for the need to further increase our taxes rests solely on the shoulders of President Trump and his “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Chairman Ensley stated that President Trump’s landmark legislation “only looked good on the surface,” so apparently, in his mind, it was anything but. Never mind that the passage of this Bill provided for:
Permanent extension of individual tax rates established in 2017.
Raising the cap on the state and local tax deduction to $40,000.
Establishing tax-deferred accounts for children, allowing parents to save for their benefit.
Tax deductions, such as those for tips and overtime pay.
Tax relief in disaster situations, including affected businesses and the self-employed.
A comprehensive approach to tax reform and federal spending, reflecting the priorities of the majority of American citizens.
Commissioner Roger Brandon referred to the passage of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” as something that our lawmakers could “beat on their chest saying, ‘Look what we done.’” Apparently implying that the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” was nothing more than a political move to make our President and true Republican representatives look good.
Commissioner Tommy Long went further, blaming our state Republican legislators for the need to increase property taxes because, in keeping with the Republican Platform, they have been decreasing income taxes since 2013.
Commissioner Jennifer Best echoed the above sentiments, going on to blame the need for the Board of Commissioners to require adequate oversight of such programs as Medicaid and SNAP as justification for a dramatic property tax increase.
None of the so-called “Republican” (RINO) Commissioners pointed out that the need for the increase was, most probably, a direct result of their consistently approving new or increased funding for county social programs, initiatives, projects, and unsustainable increases in new housing development, all of which are championed by the socialist Democrats.
So, the real truth behind the upcoming property tax increase rests squarely on their shoulders because of the initiatives they have approved over the last several years. The increase has very little to do with the “One Big Beautiful Bill” or our state legislators, who have been steadily decreasing our income taxes.
It is unfortunate that only one Commissioner, Terry Ramey, has the courage to say “NO” to the constant expansion of county social programs and initiatives, the growth of county government, and the uncontrolled housing expansion.
It is very disappointing that the other four commissioners, who all ran as Republicans, promising to implement and stand behind the Republican platform, and our MAGA Republican leader, Donald J. Trump, have chosen instead to champion socialist Democrat initiatives.
So, bottom line, it is our four RINO Board of Commissioners who are the real reason why our property taxes are about to be dramatically increased. Not the "One Big Beautiful Bill" or the state legislators complying with the will of the people by decreasing income taxes, that are to blame.

Thank You for standing up and sharing the truth. If we the people don't stand up against this push for socialism/communism, we will soon lose this GREAT Country. What a shame, think about all the thousands who gave their lives so we could have a free country and we are about to give it away. What are we leaving for our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren?? What will they say about us who didn't have the courage to stand up for our GREAT Country? I shudder to think about it. God Help Us!!
