IMAGINE IF YOU CAN ----

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union,” A more perfect Union which America has never stopped working to improve on since the Constitution was written.

For 200 plus years America has been a place where all citizens “are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” For those 200 plus years Americans could trust those in power to represent American citizens with honor and integrity and keep us unified as one Nation under God.

Over the past several decades this principle articulated in the Preamble has been rapidly becoming a memory of the past. Increasingly, our elected officials are individuals more interested in their own self-interests and willing to go to any length to achieve those self-interests. Their selfishness is resulting in their failure to carry through with their oath to office and serve “We the People.” Our governing system has been infected by sociopaths who have no conscience and therefore have no feelings regarding their actions against the constituents they swore to serve.

Martha Stout, PhD, in her book “The sociopath next door” clearly describes far to many of those who are serving in elected offices as well as many who are serving in leadership positions in our government departments and agencies.

In her introduction, she writes: “Imagine – if you can – not having a conscience, none at all, no feelings of guilt or remorse no matter what you do, no limiting sense of concern for the well-being of strangers, friends, or even family members. Imagine no struggles with shame, not a single one in your whole life, no matter what kind of selfish, lazy, harmful, or immoral action you had taken. And pretend that the concept of responsibility is unknown to you, except as a burden others seem to accept without question, like gullible fools. Now add to this strange fantasy the ability to conceal from other people that your psychological makeup is radically different from theirs. Since everyone simply assumes that conscience is universal among human beings, hiding the fact that you are conscience-free is nearly effortless. You are not held back from any of your desires by guilt or shame, and you are never confronted by others for your cold-bloodedness. The ice water in your veins is so bizarre, so completely outside of their personal experience, that they seldom even guess at your condition."

Describes many members of Congress, both state and federal, as well as many who head our agencies and departments. Certainly, food for thought.

My newly released book "American Insanity" addresses government corruption; the apathetic attitude of our citizens; political officials who no longer protect our Judeo-Christian values and lack the moral character to unify America and our Judeo-Christian values; lack of leaders with the will, strength, & courage to serve “We the People” with honor & integrity.
