As the November elections approach, Haywood County faces a pivotal moment. With the community preparing to select a mayor and eight aldermen across four cities, the choices made now will have long-lasting effects. This post highlights the historical context of party policies, the urgent needs of our neighborhoods, and the importance of actively engaging citizens. We must uncover the truths behind the rhetoric and support candidates who prioritize public safety, infrastructure, and responsible financial management.
The upcoming municipal elections are a vital chance to influence the future of our communities. As active citizens, we have a duty to participate in the voting process. We need to elect strong Conservative Republicans who are dedicated to governing in a way that reflects our Christian conservative values.
We have five such individuals running for election in our Haywood County cities. Republican candidates Landen Stevenson and Julia Freeman for the two open seats on the Waynesville Town Council; Adam Hatton, running for one of the two open seats as a Canton city alderman; Cory Nuckolls, running for one of the two open seats as a Clyde city alderman; and John Hinton, running for one of the two open seats as a Maggie Valley city alderman.
Understanding the Democrat Perspective

The Democrat Party's vision is clear. They claim that America is unfair, blaming Republican policies for all our social problems. Their proposed solution involves expanding government and increasing control, including changing the original intent of the Constitution’s founding fathers to expand their influence over society, the economy, and education.
This approach undermines personal responsibility and community engagement. The idea that government intervention is the solution to societal issues misunderstands the role of capitalism in America. We should prioritize a government that provides necessary oversight while letting the free market operate efficiently, instead of imposing excessive regulations that hinder initiative.
The Consequences of Democrat Policies

Under Democrat leadership, we have seen the national debt soar to $37 trillion. This staggering figure affects every resident in each of our Haywood County cities. High taxes increasingly burden families, and our education system is failing, with average test scores dropping about 20% in math and reading over the past decade. Additionally, rising crime rates, drug addiction, and homelessness issues in our cities multiply the struggles of many Haywood County families.

Uncontrolled socialist-democrat immigration policies have resulted in over 20 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., affecting job opportunities and, more importantly for Haywood County city residents, straining social safety nets like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. These outcomes don't just impact government budgets; they directly affect the quality of life for many families in Haywood County cities.
The Historical Context of America’s Decline

can be traced back to a series of Democrat-led policies starting in the early 20th century. Leaders like Wilson, Roosevelt, and Johnson introduced social programs that weakened fiscal responsibility. The economic problems caused by recent policies—often called "Bidenomics"—led to inflation rates nearing 20%. Their inflationary policies hindered job growth and undercut economic stability.
In contrast, the economic resurgence during the Reagan era demonstrates the advantages of reducing government interference. Reagan's policies supported a thriving free market that led to a drop in unemployment to just 4% and sparked a major economic boom, lifting millions into financial security.
The Achievements of Republican Leadership

Under Donald Trump's presidency, the U.S. is experiencing record-high employment rates, a decrease in inflation due to strategic tax cuts and reduced regulations, over 1 million new full-time jobs created, significant tariff revenues generated, and foreign investments surging by up to 50%. These accomplishments are tangible results that directly benefit our communities. Despite facing scrutiny, Trump is effectively addressing governance challenges and revitalizing the economy.
As we near another municipal election, it is essential to carry on this legacy of strong leadership in Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Canton, and Clyde.
Misleading Claims of the Democrat Party

The Democrat Party often highlights its historic achievements, like landing on the moon and expanding civil rights. While these accomplishments deserve recognition, they are from the distant past and do not define today's Democrat Party. The values of modern Democrat Party leadership differ significantly from those of the party's past. JFK would find today’s Democrat Party’s socialist and heavy-handed policies at odds with his beliefs in personal liberty and limited government.
The current Democrat leadership emphasizes control over empowerment from the national to the city level, including the cities within Haywood County. This shift marks a departure from the Democrat Party’s principles that once encouraged opportunity for all Americans.
The Need for Conservative Leadership

Now, more than ever, we must recognize that voting plays a vital role in shaping our future. It is crucial to unite in electing leaders like Landen Stevenson, Julia Freeman, Adam Hatton, Cory Nuckolls, and John Hinton, who support conservative values, ensuring responsible fiscal policies and safe environments for all families.
We need Conservative Republicans like Landen Stevenson, Julia Freeman, Adam Hatton, Cory Nuckolls, and John Hinton who are committed to a limited government approach that emphasizes investing in ourselves and our communities rather than relying on an oversized government system.

Make it a priority to educate yourself on the Democrat candidates' positions. Consider their liberal-socialist stances on fiscal responsibility, education, and public safety. The decisions made in these elections will have long-lasting impacts on the landscape of our communities.
The Historical Context of Party Policies

Understanding history is essential for making informed decisions today. The fight against authoritarianism has frequently been led by American military forces, demonstrating a commitment beyond just political parties. While many argue that the Democrat Party has expanded rights for its citizens, this idea is misleading. Efforts to centralize control over our economy can often conflict with the concept of individual rights.
Contrary to some stories, it was the Republican Party, founded by Abraham Lincoln, that supported significant Civil Rights laws. For example, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were key milestones driven by Republican leaders.
In contrast, the Democrat Party has historical ties to organizations that opposed civil rights initiatives. This background is essential for understanding the governance dynamics affecting Haywood County today.
Local Governance: A Call to Action
Haywood County faces urgent challenges that need strong local leadership focused on public safety, infrastructure, and solid financial management. Unfortunately, many policies promoted under Democratic leadership may not address these essential needs, often causing stagnation in towns like Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Canton, and Clyde.

Residents are feeling the effects of local decisions. Crime continues to plague our cities, raising urgent safety concerns. Roads are deteriorating, with about 20% classified as in poor condition, and new housing projects are exceeding the infrastructure capacity of Haywood County cities. The current Democratic leadership seems disconnected from these fundamental issues, causing growing frustration among residents.
Engaging Voters in Critical November Election

As the November elections near, the stakes are higher than ever. Alarmingly, voter turnout among registered Republicans was only 27.4% in the 2023 municipal elections. This low participation has consequences, allowing the election of candidates who do not reflect the community's values.
Many voters rely on name recognition rather than making informed choices based on experience or policy positions. As a result, many incumbents go unchallenged, sustaining a cycle of inaction that leaves many residents dissatisfied. This prompts important questions: Are they genuinely satisfied with leadership, or have they become indifferent to local politics?
Informing the Electorate: The Informed Citizen Movement

Re-engaging and educating voters is essential in this upcoming election. Providing accurate information about the urgent issues facing Haywood County cities is crucial to dispelling myths about party policies. Organizations like "The Informed Citizen" movement in Haywood County are stepping up to create a more informed citizenry ready to hold leaders accountable.
This November, we must focus on supporting Republican candidates Landen Stevenson, Julia Freeman, Adam Hatton, Cory Nuckolls, and John Hinton, who represent our community's values. Bolstering their platforms can help ensure our citizens are well-informed and prepared to vote for the change we need.
Time to Act Before It’s Too Late

The upcoming elections in Haywood County mark a crucial moment for local governance. Action is needed now more than ever. Voters must educate themselves—not only about the candidates but also about the policies that affect their daily lives.
Democrat policies have often failed to address key issues, and as residents of Haywood County cities, we can't afford to give them more control. It's time to support Republican candidates who focus on improving public safety, investing in infrastructure, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
As November approaches, let’s work hard to increase voter participation, promote civic engagement, and uphold our political values. Our future depends on our dedication to fight complacency and build thriving Haywood County communities.
A Call to Action

As active citizens, we cannot afford to be passive. Now is the time to educate ourselves, connect with others, and vote. Our dedication to electing Landen Stevenson, Julia Freeman, Adam Hatton, Cory Nuckolls, and John Hinton, strong Conservative Republicans who will lead responsibly, is more critical than ever.
Let us rise to the occasion and make sure our voices are heard in the upcoming municipal elections. Together, we can reclaim the promise of America as a land of opportunity, prosperity, and freedom. Our future is at stake.
By understanding the significance of these elections and choosing to vote, we help shape a future that values personal effort, family safety, and the fundamental principles of American capitalism. Remember, your vote truly matters—make it count.

The Canton city rules prevent me from voting for aldermen since I live outside city limits. My water bill doubled last month with no explanation as to why, I'm furious but I can't do anything about it.
