The biggest illusion today is the belief that our current political system reflects the vision of the Founding Fathers. However, what has emerged today is a system built, not on agreement but on redundancy and execution that continues regardless of the voter's will.

Haywood County faces critical challenges that highlight this disconnect. Political decisions often prioritize power, influence, or personal agendas over the community's needs and expectations. This has led to declines in safety, economic growth, parental involvement in children's education, access to health care, and affordable housing. These consequences affect not only individual residents but also the well-being of the entire community.

It is time for Haywood County residents to demand leadership that puts their needs first, values transparency, and promotes responsible growth. Leadership that can be counted on to represent the residents of Haywood County with honor and integrity and serve with transparency. These are the qualities that the following six Republican candidates will bring to the governance of Haywood County if elected.

Terry Ramey, for Haywood County Board of Commissioners. Terry is a proven leader dedicated to protecting and supporting Haywood County's residents. Terry Ramey has demonstrated:

• Commitment to the community’s safety and welfare

• Courage to challenge indifference and bureaucracy

• Compassion rooted in strong values

Tiffany Collins, for Haywood County Board of Commissioners. Tiffany's leadership skills and female perspective on the governance of Haywood County promise to bring:

• A clear focus on community safety and well-being

• Representation of women’s voices in Haywood County government

• Strong support for law enforcement, growth, education, and healthcare improvements

Mark Mease, for Sheriff of Haywood County. Mark is a proven and dedicated law enforcement officer with years of experience. He is committed to:

• Maintaining peace and order and enforcing state and federal laws

• Ensuring the safety and well-being of county residents

• Maintaining a secure & humane environment for county jail inmates

• Ensuring the efficient and effective operation of all Sheriff divisions

• Ensuring the humane care, custody, and control of individuals held in the county jail

Emily Sapp, for Haywood County Tax Collector. Emily's years of public service and commitment to the residents of Haywood Count includes:

• Open communication with taxpayers and county officials

• Maintaining clear records and providing accessible information,

• Building confidence in the Tax Collector’s office.

• Assisting taxpayers facing hardships while upholding the law.

• Accountability to build trust in public fund management.

Stacy Moore, for Haywood County Register of Deeds. Stacy is a certified Assistant Register of Deeds with over twelve years of proven experience. She is a detail-oriented and highly organized individual who is:

• Trustworthy, ethical, and accountable

• Committed to providing access to records for public inspection

• Dedicated to serving the citizens of Haywood County

• Committed to ensuring property transactions are officially documented and accessible

• Experienced in providing historical records to aid in resolution and legal proceedings

Adam Smith for North Carolina District 11 U.S. Representative. Adam is a former Green Beret with over sixteen years of military service. What Adam has committed to  bringing to Congress as our District 11 representative are:

• Strong leadership skills developed through years of military service

• Deep understanding of constitutional principles  

• Commitment to veterans’ issues based on personal experience

• Entrepreneurial mindset to support economic growth in the district

These six candidates have shown a willingness to advocate for the best interests of Haywood County residents and to hold Haywood County officials accountable.

All six understand that the Founding Fathers envisioned a government responsive to the people’s consent, in which leaders acted with the community’s best interests at heart. Unfortunately, some Haywood County elected officials currently govern without meaningful input or voter approval.

Haywood County is a clear example of how political decisions disconnected from community needs can harm residents. Several key areas show the impact: Transparency, Accountability, Safety, Economic Growth, Education, Health, and Housing Affordability. All areas Terry, Tiffany, Mark, Emily, Stacy, and Adam are prepared to address efficiently and effectively if elected.
