Jimmy Rogers For NC House District 118! Here's Why

Life in Haywood County does not feel easy right now. Families are paying more for groceries, more at the pump, more for power, more for housing, and more for health care. On top of that, Western North Carolina is still working through the damage and disruption left by Helene.

That is the setting for the 2026 race in North Carolina House District 118. James M. “Jimmy” Rogers, who won the Republican primary, is set to face socialist Democrat Danny Davis in the November 3, 2026 general election.

This race comes down to a simple question: Who is most likely to put Haywood County first when the pressure is on?

The answer is Jimmy Rogers. He is not running as a national celebrity, a party insider, or a political heir. He is running as someone rooted in this county, shaped by its people, and tested in hard moments.

The strongest argument for Jimmy Rogers starts close to home.

Rogers comes from a family with a background in local business and community service. There is no sign of a political dynasty behind him. His record points to something more modest and more useful: long-term local service.

His time on the Haywood County Board of Education, spanning more than two decades, gives voters a clear view of how he approaches public responsibility. School board service is not glamorous but it builds habits that matter in the General Assembly:

  • Listening before deciding

  • Knowing local families by name

  • Understanding schools, budgets, and public needs

  • Staying close to the people affected by policy

  • Treating public office as work, not status

That is why this race is not just about party labels. It is about whether Haywood County sends someone to Raleigh who understands the county from the inside.

Helene changed the conversation in Western North Carolina. Flooding, damage, road problems, disrupted routines, and long recovery timelines made daily life harder for people who were already under strain.

In moments like that, leadership becomes visible. Some people wait for cameras. Some wait for permission. Others get to work.

Rogers was visible during the recovery effort and played a role in helping address community needs after the flooding. People in Haywood County do not need lectures about resilience. They have lived it. They need state leaders who will push for practical help, cut through delays, and keep attention on Western North Carolina after the headlines fade.

Rogers has already shown that he understands the human side of recovery. That is not a small thing. When a community has been through a disaster, voters have every right to prefer a candidate who has been present, engaged, and connected to the people directly affected.

Socialist-communist Democrats often remind voters that life is expensive right now. They are right about the hardship. But naming the pain is not the same as explaining it, and it is not the same as solving it.

That economic pain has a political context. Federal spending, energy policy, regulatory choices, and the broader policy agenda pushed by socialist-communist Democrats all helped shape the environment families are living in now. Not every price increase can be pinned on one law or one person, but voters do not need to pretend leadership choices have no consequences.

The same is true for health care.

The Affordable Care Act was sold with big promises. Americans were told costs would come down and that people could keep their doctor. For many families, that did not match reality. Premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs became a heavier burden over time. Networks changed. Choices narrowed. Health insurance became more complicated, not less.

For Haywood County, the lesson is clear. Big promises from the left rarely become lower costs at home.

Jimmy Rogers offers a different kind of politics. His background suggests a focus on local needs, practical limits, and accountability. He is not running on slogans about remaking society. He is running as someone who knows what rising costs do to families in a mountain county.

The race for NC House District 118 is a state race. The winner will serve in Raleigh, not Washington, D.C. That distinction matters because voters should judge the candidates by what they will do for Western North Carolina inside the North Carolina General Assembly.

Western North Carolina needs:

  • Jobs for its residents

  • Lower costs for working families

  • Strong schools with local accountability

  • Support for small businesses and trades

  • Respect for taxpayers

  • A state government that listens to rural counties

Those priorities do not require ideological experiments. They require a representative who understands the county, answers to the county, and fights for the county.

That is the case for Rogers. He is not trying to use Haywood County as a steppingstone into national politics. His record is local. His base of support is local. His campaign message is local.

Rogers does not come across as someone chasing the next title. His public background centers on school board service, local relationships, and community involvement. That is not the résumé of a detached political climber. It is the résumé of someone who stayed close to home and did the unglamorous work.

Voters should be wary of any candidate who talks about hardship without offering a serious path forward. Complaints are easy. Blame is easy. What matters is judgment.

That is why Jimmy Rogers is Haywood County’s best choice in NC House District 118. The race is about who will carry Haywood County’s concerns to Raleigh with credibility, humility, and backbone.

Jimmy Rogers offers Haywood County something that politics often lacks: a neighbor’s understanding of local life and a public servant’s record of staying involved when things get hard.

On November 3, 2026, that should matter. Vote for Jimmy Rogers and all other Republicans running for office to ensure that we "Make America Great Again."
